Ms. Mariyam Shiuna – Chairperson
Mariyam Shiuna is the Chief Operating Officer at Maldives Pension Administration Office where she is responsible for oversight, and providing leadership and guidance for the execution of all business processes related to the Corporate Affairs Division. Prior to joining the Pension Office, she served as the President of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives. She also served as the Executive Director of Transparency Maldives. She has over 10 years of experience in leading organizations; and in undertaking research, training development, advocacy and policy making in the areas of governance, anti-corruption and business integrity.
She holds a Master’s degree in international development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London; a Bachelor’s (honours) degree in History from London Metropolitan University, and a postgraduate certificate in Politics from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Ms. Aishath Rizna – Executive Director
Aishath Rizna is a governance and justice sector specialist with over 15 years of experience who has worked in advancing good governance, access to justice, and human rights in the Maldives. She has led major national reforms, including the digitalization of the judiciary, strengthening judicial education, and expanding citizen-centered justice services across the country.
Before joining Transparency Maldives, Rizna served as the Chief Judicial Administrator of the Maldives, overseeing the administration and development of all courts and the Judicial Academy. She previously led UNDP Maldives’ Governance and Peacebuilding portfolio, managing multimillion-dollar programmes on youth empowerment, political reforms, justice sector strengthening, and inclusive governance. Rizna brings extensive experience working with government, civil society, and international development partners, and has played a key role in shaping policy and reform initiatives during multiple political transitions. She holds a Master of Laws from School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and a BA LLB from University of Bangalore, India.

Ms: Shifaza Wajeeh – General Board Member
Shifaza currently serves as the Director General at the Ministry of Social and Family Development, where she oversees the Elderly Division and leads the implementation of the Ministry’s mandate to promote the rights, wellbeing, and dignity of older persons in the Maldives.
Prior to this role, she was the Director General and Head of Civil Servants at the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), playing a key role in shaping and implementing the Maldives’ social protection systems since the agency’s establishment in 2008. With over 15 years of experience in the sector, she has contributed significantly to the development of major national frameworks, including the National Social Health Insurance Scheme, Social Cash Transfer Programs, the Social Protection Act, the Disability Act, and reforms of the Retirement Pension and Basic Pension Schemes.
She has also held several governance roles, including serving on the Board of the National Social Health Insurance Scheme and the Waste Management Board. She currently sits on the Board of the Maldives Pension Administration Office, representing the social security sector, and previously served as an Executive Committee Member (Commissioner for Projects) of the Maldives Girl Guides Association. Shifaza holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from The University of Sydney, Australia, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from HELP University, Malaysia.

Ms: Sultana Shakir – General Board Member
Sultana Shakir started her career as a junior officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maldives. After serving in various ranks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she joined the Elections Commissions of the Maldives, where she headed the Planning section of the Commission.
She then served as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Defense and National Security before assuming the role of the Permanent Secretary of the Attorney General’s Office of the Maldives. After a brief leave, she joined Transparency Maldives as the HR Manager of the organization. She then served as the Chief Administrator of the High Court of the Maldives. Sultana is currently the Secretary General of the Attorney General’s Office of the Maldives.
Her responsibilities include overseeing the daily management of the Office under the direction and guidance of the Chief Judge of the High Court and High Court Justices, policy formulation and implementation, personnel and finance management, including all operational management issues. With an extensive career in public service, Sultana’s area of interest is public sector governance, public administration and anti-corruption in the public sector.

Ms: Shifza Omar -General Board Member
Shifza Omar is a rights-based governance professional with over thirteen years of experience advancing institutional accountability, civic engagement, decentralisation, and climate resilience in the Maldives. She has held roles across civil society and international development organisations, including programme leadership at Transparency Maldives, UNDP Maldives, and the International Republican Institute, where she guided multi-stakeholder initiatives to strengthen systems, promote social inclusion, advance gender equality, and foster climate-resilient communities.
Her experience encompasses policy analysis, programme design and implementation, and partnership building with government institutions, civil society, and international partners. She holds a Bachelor of Shari’ah and Law (Honours) from Maldives National University and a Bachelor of Arts in History, Economics, and Tourism Management from Bangalore University, India. She brings expertise and practical experience to support Transparency Maldives’ strategic mission, integrity, and long-term sustainability
