Our Commitment
Transparency Maldives is committed to ensuring that our digital platforms are accessible to everyone, including persons with disabilities. We believe that access to information is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of an accountable and transparent society. Our goal is to ensure that our information is accessible regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.
Compliance Status
We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These international standards define how to make web content more usable for people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
Accessibility Features on This Site
To provide an inclusive experience, we have implemented the following:
- Keyboard Navigation: All menus, forms, and interactive elements can be navigated using a keyboard alone.
- Screen Reader Optimization: We use semantic HTML5 and ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) labels to ensure compatibility with screen readers like NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
- Visual Clarity: We maintain high color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1) and allow for text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Bilingual Support: Our accessibility features extend to both English and Dhivehi (RTL) versions of the site.
Known Limitations
While we work hard to ensure full accessibility, we are aware of some limitations:
- Historical Archive: Some older PDF reports published before 2022 may not be fully optimized for screen readers. We are working to provide accessible HTML summaries for our most critical legacy research.
- Third-Party Content: Some embedded maps or social media feeds may have accessibility barriers that are beyond our direct control.
