Youth Camp on Civic Education, Environment, and Climate Governance

Transparency Maldives is a non–partisan organization that promotes good governance and advocates to eliminate corruption from the daily lives of the Maldivian people. Transparency Maldives engages in a wide range of activities to incorporate and advocate for good governance, stop corruption and to promote democracy and civic participation at the local and national level. Transparency Maldives seeks to engage with stakeholders from all sectors (government, business, politics, civil society, media, among others) to raise awareness on corruption’s detrimental effects on development and society.
Many young people lack access to platforms and knowledge that link governance, accountability, and environmental sustainability. Civic education in schools and universities often does not address these interconnections, leaving youth without the necessary understanding of how environmental decisions are made, how they can participate, or how to hold institutions accountable.
This youth camp aims to bridge this gap by bringing together young people from across the country to build their capacity in civic education, environmental governance, and climate integrity.
Overall Objective:
1. To empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to actively engage in civic processes and promote transparent, accountable, and inclusive environmental and climate governance.
2. Strengthen understanding of civic rights, responsibilities, and the principles of good governance.
3. Enhance youth awareness of environmental and climate governance frameworks—both local and global.
4. Foster youth participation in policy dialogue, advocacy, and community-level environmental action.
5. Build leadership, collaboration, and communication skills among youth to promote civic engagement and environmental integrity.

The deadline for application is 24th October 2025.
Selection Procedure:
A maximum of 20 applicants will be selected for the program. The selection will be based on gender and geographical distribution. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously participated in any youth camps or civic education program by TM recently.
Fee:
No fees will be charged for participation in the camp. The organizers will bear all costs related to the training, including travel cost for participants travelling to Male’ from islands, food and accommodation for participants during the camp.
Location and date:
The dates of the camp are set for 22nd – 25th November 2025.
The tentative location for the camp will be in K. Dhiffushi.
