ALAC

Our Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) provides free and confidential advice and support to victims and witnesses of corruption, enabling them to assert their rights, seek redress and stand up for justice.

ALAC acts as a platform for citizens to voice out their grievances and assists them in pursuing their complaints. Our hope is with the help of ALAC, citizens are also empowered to translate their complaints into structural change.

ALAC also undertakes advocacy on broader reform for enhanced transparency, accountability and integrity of public institutions such as its work on right to information, and whistleblowing.

Public campaigns highlighting individual stories, outreach programs to create citizen demand for social accountability and capacity building institutions on good governance through trainings are some of the activities that ALAC undertakes amongst a host of others.

Often starting with an initial consultation, ALAC assists clients in pursuing corruption-related complaints, ranging from navigating bureaucratic red tape, submitting the right government forms, and engaging with the relevant institutions, to preparing formal complaint letters and supporting clients through follow-up processes. Where appropriate, ALAC also refers clients to other civil society organisations better placed to assist with their specific situation.
