Bill on Protection of Whistleblowers

is the disclosure or reporting of wrongdoing. It is not limited to corruption only, but also includes specific dangers to public health, safety or the environment, unauthorised use of public funds or property, gross waste or mismanagement and conflict of interest.

The bill on Protection of Whistleblower was drafted by Transparency Maldives was based on Transparency International’s International Principles for Whistleblower Legislation. The Bill was accepted by the Parliament on 10th December 2018 and is currently in Committee stage.
