1. Background
TM is a non-partisan organization that endeavours to be a constructive force in society by promoting collaboration and discussion on corruption, transparency and accountability. Our organization seeks to engage with stakeholders from all sectors (government, business, political and civil society, among others) to raise awareness of corruption’s detrimental effects on development and society, improve transparency and accountability in governance, and eliminate corruption from the daily lives of people.

TM received formal government registration in 2007, and is the National Contact of Transparency International (TI) in the Maldives.

Following the Civic Participation Project (CPP) undertaken from December 2014 – September 2015, TM is currently implementing a program, built on the foundations, recommendations and lessons learned from the CPP in 2013/2014. TM’s domestic election observation effort, its community engagements across all 20 atolls, research and awareness raising programs during the 2013/2014 electoral cycle of the Maldives provided key focus areas to design TM’s interventions in the coming years.
