Transparency Maldives works to support and strengthen local governance systems in the Maldives by working with local government authorities and citizens to deepen democracy and enhance citizen participation in democratic processes, and to empower citizens for social accountability. We have conducted interventions to both empower and build the capacity of local authorities, civil society actors and citizens to promote social accountability, inclusive governance; and build partnerships among different stakeholders to effectively address local governance challenges in in the Maldives.
